A Chance Meeting

Emily and Hernán's romance began with a chance meeting at a pub while both working in Sydney, Australia. An evening when Emily should have been at home, undoubtedly became the catalyst for a courtship that lasted more than a year and spanned multiple continents. Emily, being from Iowa originally, and Hernán, from Mexico, the two consequently settled in San Francisco.

Bienvenidos A México

Arriving a few days early, my second shooter and I explored the charming Mexican town of Tequisquiapan. As the area is not a touristy spot for Americans, we were nevertheless able to practice our Spanish . In addition to meeting family members by the pool, we were able to tag along to the rehearsal dinner. Gathered by close friends and family, Hernán and Emily celebrated their love. As the meal came to an end, Hernán's father delivered a moving speech, formally welcoming Emily as his new daughter.

Wedding Day

First Look and Ceremony

With a cape made from her mother's own wedding dress; Emily was a vision in white against the vibrant red of the hotel courtyard. Emily and Hernán's tender first look took place on a secluded balcony of the hotel. With all the romance between them, the Mexican backdrop made for stunning portraits.

Under a stone archway and a backdrop of luscious vines, Hernán watched as Emily and her father approached. Smiles, giggles, a few tears, and a kiss to seal the deal, they were wed.

Hacienda Grande

The Hacienda Grande was no ordinary hacienda! In the open courtyard, runners and greenery with dainty white flowers lay atop long wooden tables. Plentiful Mexican sweets adorned mirrored tables while meats and cheeses sat atop sturdy tables with barrels for legs. The reception began as the bride and groom were enthusiastically ushered into the hacienda by a mariachi band. The evening concluded with a full band and tequila shots poured by none other than the bride and groom.
