Steamboat Colorado Wedding | Ann + Tommy

Modern Day Stevie Nicks & Clint Eastwood

What happens when you combine a Bohemian Floral Goddess (think modern Stevie Nicks) and a 20th Century Western “dude” (think modern Clint Eastwood)? You get Ann and Tommy! I met the two for drinks a few months prior to their wedding and instantly fell in love with them. I knew they were gong to be one of my favorites. Ann and Tommy met in Chicago, however, they have settled in Colorado to be closer to the mountains.

Strawberry Park Hot Springs

The couple’s wedding was set to take place in Steamboat, Colorado, home to the Strawberry Park Hot Springs. I asked Ann and Tommy if they would be interested in sneaking away for a mini session the day before their wedding. They were totally down! The spectacular 104 degree mineral springs are nestled alongside Hot Springs Creek.

I really appreciated the opportunity to spend time with Ann and Tommy. Not only delivering additional portraits, but capturing a secluded moment in time before their wedding day. The more time I’m able to spend with my couples, the more we trust one another. In turn, it allows me the freedom and creativity to get awesome portraits.

First Look

When I saw Ann for the first time on her wedding day, it was an experience I'll never forget. She was a radiant Bohemian Floral Goddess - perfectly adorned with a flower crown and lace dress. Ann was a mirror of my own personal style! I felt as though she and I were having OUR first look.

Ann met Tommy for their first look in the middle of a field of sage. With her dress in her hands, she hiked the short distance to where he stood. Tommy's look of sheer adoration and excitement for his bride, set the tone for the remainder of the day.

Ceremony

Tommy and Ann were wed at La Joya Dulce in Steamboat, Colorado. As Tommy came down the aisle, everyone began cheering. The moment was so powerful - I tried not to tear up. Everyone who loved and adored them was so excited to bear witness to their day. How guests should be at a wedding, so freaking excited! Family and friends continued to cheer for those walking, of course standing to cheer for the bride.

Reception

The couple’s reception was so full of laughter and cheer! During her speech, the Maid of Honor wore a wig in memorandum of the mullet that Tommy cut prior to their wedding. As part of the remembrance, multiple guests also adorned wigs and toasted to Tommy’s mullet.

Sunset Portraits

At sunset, the venue allowed us to borrow one of their golf carts. We took a ride down to visit some of the horses and take a few more portraits of the newlyweds. The love that Ann and Tommy share radiated throughout their day. Full hearted smiles and endearing looks rippled like waves from the couple and permeated into the atmosphere. I couldn't help falling madly in love with Ann and Tommy, as had their guests, and as they had for one another.
