Courtney & Mathieu's Intimate September Wedding at Lyons River Bend

Courtney and Mathieu’s wedding at the picturesque Lyons River Bend was the definition of intimate elegance. With around 50 guests—primarily close family—the day felt deeply personal, filled with meaningful details and heartfelt moments.

The Setting

Nestled along the St. Vrain River, Lyons River Bend offered the perfect backdrop for a late September celebration. The natural beauty of the venue—towering trees, flowing water, and the backdrop of red sandstone cliffs—created an effortlessly romantic atmosphere. The crisp fall air and golden afternoon light made everything feel extra magical. Wedlocks Bridal Hair ensured Courtney looked effortlessly stunning, with hair and makeup that reflected the day’s soft, natural aesthetic. Meanwhile, Laurel Wedding Films documented every special moment, ensuring that the laughter, tears, and joy would be cherished forever.

Elegant Florals in White and Green

The floral design by Lace and Lilies complemented the serene setting perfectly. White blooms paired with lush greenery brought a sense of fresh sophistication to the ceremony and reception spaces. The minimal, natural color palette allowed the beauty of the venue (and the couple!) to shine.

A Day Full of Love and Laughter

Before the ceremony, Courtney and Mathieu set the tone by sharing a private "first look" moment beneath the towering trees along the riverbank. The quiet anticipation melted into pure joy as they saw each other for the first time that day. With only the sound of the flowing river in the background, the couple exchanged sweet words, laughter, and a few tears. This intimate moment set the tone for the entire day, reminding them to savor each second together amidst the celebration.

The Ceremony

Courtney and Mathieu’s ceremony was intimate and heartfelt, with personal vows that had more than a few guests reaching for tissues. The closeness of the guest list meant every moment felt intentional and warm—like one big family gathering.

Mini Adventure with Myself

We snuck away for a bit (after the first look) and then again for 10 minutes at sunset for some couple’s photos. This is always my favorite time of the day.

Reception and Dancing the Night Away

Guests enjoyed a delicious meal and cocktails courtesy of Sugar Pine Catering, whose menu added a cozy, comforting feel to the evening. The cake, crafted by Kelly Leigh Cakes, was a simple yet stunning creation, adorned with delicate little daisies that perfectly echoed the floral theme.

After dinner and dessert the night came alive with the sounds of Diamond Empire Band, who kept the energy high and the dance floor full. From sweet slow dances to lively group numbers, the music perfectly captured the joyful spirit of the day.

Final Thoughts

Courtney and Mathieu’s wedding at Lyons River Bend was a celebration of love, family, and simple elegance. From the gorgeous florals to the intimate guest list, every detail spoke to who they are as a couple—genuine, warm, and deeply connected. It was an honor to capture a day so full of love, beauty, and meaning.
