Best Family Photo Locations Near Denver

One of the most common questions I get from families booking their session is:
"Where should we go for our photos?"

Great news — the Denver & Boulder area is full of beautiful, family‑friendly spots for every vibe, whether you want mountain views, urban backdrops, or quiet golden fields.

Here are my favorite locations for family sessions — all tested and loved by many families I’ve worked with!

Belmar Lake Park

A park behind the Belmar Library in Lakewood with tall grass, mountain views and a lake.
Belmar Park is perfect in the summer at sunset.

Mount Falcon Park (East Trailhead)

Red Rocks views just 15minutes from Denver.
Rolling trails, golden grasses, and views of Red Rocks — plus easy parking, which is always a win with kids.

Hudson Gardens

Beautiful gardens and plenty of variety.
If you love flowers, trees, and a more curated park vibe, Hudson Gardens in Littleton is a fantastic choice. There’s a small admission fee but it’s worth it for the peaceful atmosphere and variety of backdrops. Great for families that live further south!

Lookout Mountain Park

Woodsy, mountain feel close to the city.
This Golden gem is a personal favorite for its pine forests, rustic fences, and quiet trails. It feels like a true escape from the city without being too far of a drive.

City Park

A quintessential Denver location with skyline views.
City Park is ideal if you want iconic Denver vibes — mature trees, wide lawns, views and a lake.

Holly B Trailhead

Iconic Flatirons views + open meadows.
This is at the base of NCAR. You get those jaw‑dropping Flatirons in the background, plus wide open grassy fields that are great for kids to run around. So much better than Chataqua if you want fewer crowds and easy parking.

The People’s Crossing Park

Wildflowers and rocks at the base of the Flatirons.
This little gem offers gorgeous wildflowers in spring and summer and some fun red rock formations for kids to climb on. It feels more intimate than the big parks.

Standley Lake

Tall grass, Mountain Views and a lake.

Standley Lake has easy parking and is great at sunset - perfect for those who live in the north Denver/Arvada area.

At Home

More documentary vibes at your house where all the magic happens!

We can dance in the living room or take a break to snack or play in the backyard. I am always down to do a session at home!

Studio

Great if it’s cold out or you just don’t want to deal with all the nature/golden hour stuff!

Studio sessions are classic, easy and fun! My go to studio is Realm Studio in Denver or The Photo Loft. Studio sessions do not include the studio fee, which is around an extra $100.

Ready to book? Have more questions?

I’m always happy to help you choose the perfect spot — and I can even suggest timing and outfit ideas to match the location.

If you’re ready to make some memories, I’d love to help! Let’s find the perfect spot for your family and capture this season of your lives.
