Kate was a recommended vendor from our venue. The photographer was a very important choice for us as we wanted someone who would capture the whimsical essence of our wedding we were going for, with it still feeling very personal and Kate was just the person! As a lesbian couple, it was also important to us to find women and queer owned vendors. We met with her over the phone for a consultation as we were exploring potential photographers and knew fairly quickly, she was just who we were looking for! We expressed our vision for the day, the energy we wanted to be captured and also made it clear while the photos were important, we didn’t want our whole wedding day to be just taking pictures as we wanted a lot of time to focus on celebrating as well! She understood this out of the gate and explained her process and vision very clearly, which aligned with our vision extremely well.
Kate was also great about making sure she had the clear list of our wants in terms of family photos, tablescapes and some of our own portraits. She had excellent recommendations as well for spots for our first look. As an out of town couple, we were not as familiar with the area but knew we wanted lots of mountain views and trees and she did not disappoint!
Day of wedding, Kate and her second photographer (and partner, they are such a dynamic duo!) Taylor, arrived promptly for our getting ready photos. They hit the ground running with us all day. It was important to us that we did not see each other before first look, so Kate & Taylor left with each of us separately so we could have that special moment of seeing each other for the first time.
They really understood us as a couple out of the gate and our first look felt very authentic. Even when the clouds rolled in and the skies opened up, they were well prepared with umbrellas and made the shoot feel so magical in the rain!
During our ceremony, they were there to capture all the important moments. Even though we did not have a wedding party, they were very patient throughout our family photos as a few different iterations got added last minute. They also captured some incredible silly and special candids of us throughout the evening, which again just showed how much they understood us as a couple so quickly.
We had asked Kate last minute (literally the day before!) to add an hour as we wanted to capture a bit more of the reception and dancing. She replied instantly and was more than willing to do so!
She also works extremely fast! As my wife said in an Instagram post - she’s a wizard! We had a TON of previews in less than 48 hours. It was so special to be able to send photos to family and friends so quickly after the wedding.
