The Best Time Of Year To Get Married in Colorado
Many of the weddings we shoot are destination weddings for the couple. Colorado is a beautiful state known for its stunning landscapes, picturesque mountains, and varied climate. With so much natural beauty, it's no wonder that many couples choose to get married in this scenic destination.
But when is the best time of year to tie the knot in Colorado?
In this blog, we'll explore the best times to get married in Colorado based on weather, scenery, and availability.
Summer (June-August): The summer months are the most popular time to get married in Colorado, thanks to the warm temperatures and clear skies. The days are long, providing ample daylight for outdoor ceremonies and receptions. This season is perfect for couples who want to take advantage of Colorado's scenic beauty and explore the great outdoors. However, be prepared for higher demand and potentially higher prices. Also note - it can get very warm in July and August - but if you are getting married closer to the mountains this can mean 10 degrees cooler!
Fall (September-November): The fall months offer a unique opportunity for couples to take advantage of Colorado's stunning fall foliage. The leaves start changing color in early September, and the peak of fall colors usually occurs in mid-October. The temperatures are still mild, making it a comfortable time to celebrate your special day outdoors. If you want to have an autumn wedding, book your venue early, as it is a popular time for weddings. September and October book up the fastest for me.
Winter (December-February): Winter is a magical time to get married in Colorado. The snow-covered mountains and scenic landscapes provide a breathtaking backdrop for your wedding photos. However, be prepared for cold temperatures and snowstorms, which may impact travel plans for you and your guests. This season is ideal for couples who want a cozy and intimate wedding, as well as those who enjoy winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding. There are a ton of venues that specialize in winter weddings and can provided heaters for the outdoor ceremonies even. The great thing about Colorado is that we get 300 days of sunshine a year. So even if itβs cold or snowy - the snow melts quick and you can often still get that golden light. Something to consider when planning a winter wedding is the timeline. The sun goes down around 4:30 in the winter. So if you are wanting an outdoor ceremony make sure you plan everything earlier in the day to make sure we get enough light.
Spring (March-May): Spring is a transitional season in Colorado, but it can still be a great time to get married if you're willing to embrace the unpredictable weather. The snow begins to melt, and the flowers start to bloom, providing a colorful backdrop for your wedding photos. The temperatures can vary widely, from warm and sunny to cold and snowy. If you're considering a spring wedding, keep in mind that it may be more challenging to plan an outdoor ceremony or reception due to the potential for inclement weather. When booking a venue consider having a plan B for the capability to have an inside ceremony.
